Pathways to Yoga Include:
Hatha/Raja - the path of yoga through the physical body and ethical underpinnings. An in depth exploration of alignment principles in asana, advanced asanas & pranayamas, kriyas, diet and lifestyle of a yoga practitioner through the lens of the 8 limbs of Patanjali's system and includes a deeper focus on dharana concentration, dhyana meditation and samadhi absorption.
Bhakti - The path of yoga through devotion; based on the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and the Bhagavad Purana; devotional practices including chanting & kirtan.
Karma - the path of yoga through self-less action; based on the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. Learning to take your yoga out into the world-at-large and to under-served populations- seva (service).
Nada - the path of yoga through sound; cultivating attention though listening to outward (ahat) and inward (anahat) sound.
Jnana - the path of yoga through self-inquiry; based on the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita; developing the practice of self study so that we may distinguish our true nature and overcome our ignorance/suffering.
Anatomy & Physiology - in depth exploration of the body as applied directly to asana, pranayama and other yogic practices, working with injuries (yours and/or students) with greater skill and experience. Understanding the integration between energy anatomy and physical anatomy.
Teaching Methodology - continued learning and practicing of the art of adjusting/assists in yoga, class planning and sequencing for open classes and meeting needs of all levels of students, developing your own teaching style and teaching themes and cultivating creativity in your teaching; group practicum and small group peer review.
Satsang - combines many of the subjects of the 300 hour course in group discussion forum and includes many topics such as chanting, meditation, japa and mantra, getting involved in community activity and taking yoga practice into one's daily life and for the benefit of all beings everywhere.
Lifestyle of a Yogi - developing and deepening one's home practice, exploration of diet and environmental/personal ethical responsibilities that go along with the awakened yogic lifestyle.
